Bill Schelter

Bill Schelter was a professor of mathematics and a Lisp programmer, responsible for the GNU Common Lisp[?] (gcl) implementation of Lisp and the free version of the computer algebra system Macsyma[?] called GNU Maxima.

He went to Moscow the summer of 2001, married Olga Vodianikova, and died of a heart attack at the end of July. He was buried in Canada.
