Basingstoke Canal

The Basingstoke Canal is one of the Waterways in the United Kingdom. It is a man-made navigation joining Basingstoke[?] to the River Wey at Weybridge[?] via Odiham[?], Fleet, Aldershot[?], Mytchett[?], Brookwood[?] and Woking. It allowed boats to travel to Basingstoke from the docks in East London via the River Thames and River Wey. The western section from North Warnborough[?] to Basingstoke is currently un-navigable where it enters the Greywell Tunnel which is currently a Bat colony.

The Victorian London and South Western Railway runs parallel to the canal along much of it's length and was partially responsible for it falling into disuse.

There is an information centre for the canal at Mytchett.
