Bartel Leendert van der Waerden

Bartel Leendert van der Waerden (February 2, 1903-January 12, 1996) was a Dutch mathematician who born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and died in Zurich, Switzerland.

Van der Waerden was active also as a historian of science. He wrote Science Awakening (1954; Dutch original, Ontwakende wetenschap, 1950).
