Associative storage

In telecommunication, the term associative storage has the following meanings:

1. A storage device whose storage locations are identified by their contents, or by a part of their contents, rather than by their names or positions.

Note: Associative storage can also refer to this process as well as to the device. Synonym content-addressable storage.

2. Storage that supplements another storage.
