Ashikaga Yoshikatsu

Ashikaga Yoshikatsu (1434 - 1443) was the 7th Ashikaga shogun who reigned from 1442 to 1443 during the Muromachi period of Japan. Yoshimasa was the son of the 6th shogun Ashikaga Yoshinori.

Yoshikatsu became Seii Taishogun at 8 years of age a year after the assasination of his father Yoshinori by Akamatsu Mitsusuke[?] in the Kakitsu Rebellion[?] of 1441.

However, Yoshikatsu died from disease in the next year and was succeded by his younger brother, the 8th shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa, in 1449.
