Text

Araceae (not to be confused with Arecaceae) is a family of monocots in which the flowers are borne on a spadix, with female flowers at the bottom and male flowers at the top, enclosed in a spathe. It includes the calla[?] and the largest flower in the world, Amorphophallus titanum. The taro (Colocasia esculenta) is also in this family.
