Andrew Marvell

Andrew Marvell (March 31, 1621 - August 16, 1678) was an English metaphysical poet.

Son of an Anglican clergyman.

Wrote the poetic preface to the second edition of Milton's Paradise Lost. As a metaphysical, is associated with John Donne and George Herbert, but also with Ben Jonson.

Famous poems include To His Coy Mistress[?], which T.S. Eliot references in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock[?], and The Garden[?], a rather interesting poem in itself.
