Alexanderplatz

Alexanderplatz is an old historical and current large gathering area with the main building, the Rote Rathaus[?], once again the main seat of Berlin government.

Under the German Democratic Republic (GDR), the Fernsehturm[?] TV-tower was built, giving visitors a magnificent overview over all of Berlin. The Nicolai church, survived the bombardment of World War II and is one of the oldest Berlin churches. Next to it is a large beautiful Neptun[?] fountain, one of many fountains, heavily used by "dippers" during hot sweltering summer days. Alexanderplatz is one of the busiest gathering places of inner city Berlin and is situated near the Spree river and the Berliner Dom[?] (Berlin Dome).
