Al Sharpton

Reverend Alfred Sharpton, Jr. (born October 3, 1954) is a famous United States reverend and civil rights activist. Sharpton was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.

1971 - Founded the National Youth Movement

1983 - Videotaped while allegedly buying drugs, and arrested
1987 - Served as advisor for Tawana Brawley. Brawley claimed to be raped by New York City police officers. The claims were later proven untrue.
1991 - Founded the National Action Network
1991 (January 12) - Stabbed while organizing a demonstration in Bensonhurst[?]
1992 - Ran for United States Senate seat from New York
1994 - Ran for United States Senate seat from New York
1997 - Ran for Mayor of New York City
2003 (January 5) - Announced candidacy in 2004 presidential election
