Acarnania

Acarnania was a region of ancient[?] central western Greece and lay between the Achelous River and the Ionian Sea, north of the entrance of the gulf of Calydon[?]. The capital and principal city was Stratos[?].

During the Middle Ages, it was part of the Ottoman Empire. In 1832, it became part of Greece.
