AberMUD

AberMUD was the first popular MUD which college students began playing in the 1980s. It was written, mainly, by Alan Cox, also known as Anarchy, who had been a player on the original MUD at Essex Univerisity[?] [1] (http://www.ludd.luth.se/mud/aber/mud-history). It is named after the University of Aberystwyth, Wales[?]. Several dozen AberMUDs remain in operation, but in 2002 they have few players.

After you log on you may by typing "info mudlist" obtain a rather outdated list of AberMUDs that were still in operation in 1998.
