70 Virginis

70 Virginis is a main sequence star in the constellation Virgo with a confirmed extrasolar planet, at least 6.6 Jupiter masses in size, located ~0.5AU from the star.

In a 1996 paper by Geoff Marcy[?], 70V's distance was estimated to be 29 light years (from Earth), and the surface temperature[?] of the planet to be about 80 degrees Celsius. This would make the planet hospitable to life. It is now believed however that the star is much farther away (about 59 light years) and much bigger than orginally thought, leading to conditions on the planet making liquid water and life much less likely.
