Zabrze

Zabrze, a town of Poland, in the extreme SE. of (formerly Prussian) Silesia, on the railway between Gleiwitz and Königshütte. Pop. (1999) 200,177. Like other towns in this populous region, it is an important manufacturing centre, having coal-mines, iron, wire, glass, chemical and oil works, breweries, etc.
