Yalaha is a town located in Lake County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,175.

Geography Yalaha is located at 28°44'39" North, 81°49'7" West (28.744182, -81.818591)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 38.6 km² (14.9 mi²). 16.2 km² (6.2 mi²) of it is land and 22.4 km² (8.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 58.03% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,175 people, 521 households, and 385 families residing in the town. The population density is 72.6/km² (188.0/mi²). There are 601 housing units at an average density of 37.1/km² (96.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 83.66% White, 11.83% African American, 0.17% Native American, 0.77% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.38% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 4.68% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 521 households out of which 18.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.7% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.1% are non-families. 23.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.24 and the average family size is 2.62.

In the town the population is spread out with 17.1% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 20.8% from 25 to 44, 29.0% from 45 to 64, and 29.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 50 years. For every 100 females there are 94.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $31,940, and the median income for a family is $38,026. Males have a median income of $31,932 versus $22,829 for females. The per capita income for the town is $19,734. 11.2% of the population and 6.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 21.2% are under the age of 18 and 11.5% are 65 or older.
