Yahya Ayash

Yahya Ayash (? - 1996) was a Palestinian militant with Hamas. He was nicknamed The Engineer for his extensive knowledge in preparation of bombs and other weaponry. He is credited with pioneering the technique of suicide bombing in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. On January 5, 1996, Ayash was assassinated by Israeli agents using a bomb hidden in a cellular phone.
