XviD

XviD is an open source MPEG-4 video codec based on OpenDivX[?]. XviD was started by a group of German hackers after OpenDivX closed their source.

The current stable release is 0.9.1, unstable builds include features such as b-frames[?], quarter pixel motion compensation, global motion compensation, and lumi masking[?], in varying stages of completion.
