Geography Wood River is located at 40°49'18" North, 98°36'3" West (40.821792, -98.600963)¹.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,204 people, 456 households, and 320 families residing in the city. The population density is 645.6/km² (1,675.9/mi²). There are 481 housing units at an average density of 257.9/km² (669.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.35% White, 0.25% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.82% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 12.46% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
