Wittenberg University

Wittenberg University is a small, private, four-year liberal arts college located in Springfield, Ohio. Founded in 1842 in Wooster, Ohio, Wittenberg moved three years later to its present location.

Wittenberg is distinguished by its strong interdisciplinary programs such as East Asian Studies and Russian Area Studies. The East Asian Studies program is among the finest among colleges or universities of any size.

The college is named after the University of Wittenberg in Germany, where Martin Luther posted his famous 95 theses.

The campus body is made up of 2,000 students and 145 full-time faculty members. Sport teams are known as the Tigers, however, the school color is red not orange. The Wittenberg football team is the top scoring team in the nation.

In 1932 Dr. John Barker brought the secret society the Shifters to campus.
The second largest secret society at Wittenberg is the Wizards.
