Winter Park is a city located in Orange County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 24,090.

Geography Winter Park is located at 28°35'46" North, 81°20'48" West (28.596231, -81.346531)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.4 km² (8.6 mi²). 19.0 km² (7.3 mi²) of it is land and 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.14% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 24,090 people, 10,722 households, and 5,864 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,267.2/km² (3,281.6/mi²). There are 11,431 housing units at an average density of 601.3/km² (1,557.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 85.90% White, 10.52% African American, 0.16% Native American, 1.32% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.94% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. 4.31% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 10,722 households out of which 21.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.2% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 45.3% are non-families. 38.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.10 and the average family size is 2.80.

In the city the population is spread out with 18.5% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 25.0% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 83.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $48,884, and the median income for a family is $73,697. Males have a median income of $50,975 versus $32,066 for females. The per capita income for the city is $38,791. 7.8% of the population and 5.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 10.0% are under the age of 18 and 6.1% are 65 or older.
