William Moultrie

William Moultrie November 23, 1730-September 27, 1805 was an American military and political leader. He was a general in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. After the war he represented South Carolina in the Continental Congress (1784) and was twice the governor of the state. Moultrie County, Illinois is named for him.
