Wiktionary

Wiktionary is a sister project to Wikipedia to create a free wikiwiki dictionary in every language. Suggestions for such a project and its name had come up occasionally; one of the main founders was Daniel Alston, he and other Wikipedia users got it off the ground in its present form. It was set up on December 12, 2002. It obtained its own official address on December 26, 2002. It became part of the Wikimedia Foundation on June 20, 2003.

To link from wikipedia to wiktionary, you have to include a [[wiktionary:]] link, i.e. this links to wiktionary:dog (the "w" needs to be lower case). Instead of deleting off-topic wikipedia articles, you can translate them to wiktionary.
