Whether you made your change offline or directly in the editing page's textbox, occasionally another user may beat you to it, i.e., transmit their change before you transmit yours. You will then get the dreaded Edit Conflict page, in which there are two textboxes. The top is what the 'pedia server currently has; the bottom (which you might have to scroll down to notice) contains what you tried to send.
At this point, you should click the Recent Changes link and read the comment the other user made. Then, view the page (as changed by the other user), and unless they made your change for you, do the following:

When an "edit conflict" occurs, you can copy your remarks from the lower box, paste them into the upper box, and re-submit.
This way no one loses anything.
