Wichelen is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Schellebelle[?], Serskamp[?] and Wichelen proper. On January 1st, 2000 Wichelen had a total population of 10,961 (5,375 males and 5,586 females). The total area is 23.60 km² which gives a population density of 464.45 inhabitants per km².
