Whelen Springs is a town located in Clark County, Arkansas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 84.

Geography Whelen Springs is located at 33°49'54" North, 93°7'33" West (33.831691, -93.125898)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 84 people, 41 households, and 25 families residing in the town. The population density is 141.0/km² (368.6/mi²). There are 47 housing units at an average density of 78.9/km² (206.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 94.05% White, 4.76% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 41 households out of which 26.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.1% are married couples living together, 2.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.0% are non-families. 36.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.05 and the average family size is 2.60.

In the town the population is spread out with 14.3% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 27.4% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 127.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 118.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $19,286, and the median income for a family is $19,792. Males have a median income of $24,688 versus $16,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $10,852. 13.5% of the population and 18.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 22.2% are under the age of 18 and 13.0% are 65 or older.
