Wests Tigers

The Wests Tigers are a team in the National Rugby League (NRL), the main competition in Australia for Rugby League football.

The Wests Tigers entered the NRL competition in 2000 as a joint venture between two Sydney-based teams, the Western Suburbs Magpies and the Balmain Tigers. Both these teams are foundation clubs in the New South Wales Rugby League organisation, the main predecessor to the NRL. The NSWRL was founded around 1907.

The Wests Tigers are currently captained by Darren Senter[?] and coached by Tim Sheens[?].

Because the franchise is a joint venture, they have two home grounds - Campbelltown[?] Sports Ground, about 50km south-west of Sydney and the Western Suburbs Magpies home ground before the merger, and Leichhardt[?] Oval, about 6km west of Sydney and the Balmain Tigers' home ground before the merger.

The Wests Tigers are yet to win the annual NRL competition or play in the Grand Final - the game that determines the champion team of the NRL each September.
