Westland, Netherlands

The Westland is the area south-west of the line The Hague - Rotterdam in South Holland, Netherlands, approximately consisting of the municipalities De Lier, 's-Gravenzande, Maasland, Maassluis, Monster, Naaldwijk, Schipluiden, Wateringen, as well as Hoek van Holland (mun. Rotterdam).

It is well known for its horticulture in greenhouses.

The province of South Holland has proposed to the central Dutch government to merge the municipalities De Lier, 's-Gravenzande, Monster, Naaldwijk and Wateringen to a new municipality Westland, and to merge Maasland and Schipluiden to one municipality Midden-Delfland[?].
