West View is a borough located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 7,277.

Geography West View is located at 40°31'6" North, 80°2'1" West (40.518368, -80.033645)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 7,277 people, 3,149 households, and 1,908 families residing in the borough. The population density is 2,781.8/km² (7,210.8/mi²). There are 3,304 housing units at an average density of 1,263.1/km² (3,273.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 97.62% White, 0.93% African American, 0.07% Native American, 0.52% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.18% from other races, and 0.67% from two or more races. 0.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,149 households out of which 28.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.3% are married couples living together, 11.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.4% are non-families. 33.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.31 and the average family size is 3.01.

In the borough the population is spread out with 23.4% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 88.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.0 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $38,264, and the median income for a family is $48,442. Males have a median income of $32,700 versus $27,031 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $21,025. 6.4% of the population and 4.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 7.0% are under the age of 18 and 9.1% are 65 or older.
