Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 42.6 km² (16.4 mi²). 42.6 km² (16.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 13,145 people, 5,284 households, and 3,762 families residing in the township. The population density is 308.9/km² (800.0/mi²). There are 5,467 housing units at an average density of 128.5/km² (332.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.35% White, 0.79% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.60% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.70% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. 1.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,284 households out of which 27.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.4% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 26.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 2.91.

In the township the population is spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 28.3% who are 65 years of age or older.
