West Falmouth, Massachusetts

West Falmouth is a town located in Barnstable County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,867.

Geography West Falmouth is located at 41°35'59" North, 70°38'16" West (41.599628, -70.637812)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 11.4 km² (4.4 mi²). 8.2 km² (3.2 mi²) of it is land and 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 28.18% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,867 people, 835 households, and 558 families residing in the town. The population density is 228.1/km² (590.8/mi²). There are 1,278 housing units at an average density of 156.2/km² (404.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.86% White, 0.43% African American, 0.05% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 0.64% from two or more races. 0.86% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 835 households out of which 19.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% are married couples living together, 7.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.1% are non-families. 27.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.21 and the average family size is 2.66.

In the town the population is spread out with 17.5% under the age of 18, 3.6% from 18 to 24, 20.3% from 25 to 44, 34.2% from 45 to 64, and 24.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 50 years. For every 100 females there are 88.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $72,703, and the median income for a family is $84,368. Males have a median income of $56,250 versus $42,250 for females. The per capita income for the town is $42,159. 2.1% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 0.0% are 65 or older.
