Warren, Ohio

Warren is a city located in Trumbull County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 46,832. It is the county seat of Trumbull County6.

Geography Warren is located at 41°14'18" North, 80°48'52" West (41.238206, -80.814554)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 41.7 km² (16.1 mi²). 41.6 km² (16.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.19% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 46,832 people, 19,288 households, and 12,035 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,124.5/km² (2,911.6/mi²). There are 21,279 housing units at an average density of 510.9/km² (1,322.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 71.94% White, 25.20% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.30% from other races, and 1.98% from two or more races. 1.04% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 19,288 households out of which 29.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 38.4% are married couples living together, 19.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.6% are non-families. 32.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.37 and the average family size is 3.01.

In the city the population is spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 86.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 81.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $30,147, and the median income for a family is $36,158. Males have a median income of $32,317 versus $23,790 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,808. 19.4% of the population and 16.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 29.8% are under the age of 18 and 9.9% are 65 or older.
