War driving

In cracking in the years 2000 and 2001, war driving was the act of driving around blocks of computer companies and downtown business districts with a wireless LAN listener, trying to find open networks that can be used for gaining access to company internal networks or the Internet. It is also known (as of 2002) as WiLDing (Wirless Lan Driving), originating with the Bay Area Wireless Users Group (BAWUG).
