Waltonville is a village located in Jefferson County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 422.

Geography Waltonville is located at 38°12'41" North, 89°2'30" West (38.211398, -89.041780)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.5 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.06% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 422 people, 177 households, and 121 families residing in the village. The population density is 169.7/km² (440.6/mi²). There are 190 housing units at an average density of 76.4/km² (198.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.82% White, 0.00% African American, 0.47% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 1.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 177 households out of which 32.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.1% are non-families. 30.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.38 and the average family size is 2.97.

In the village the population is spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 17.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 86.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.4 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $24,318, and the median income for a family is $32,750. Males have a median income of $26,607 versus $16,875 for females. The per capita income for the village is $12,233. 16.6% of the population and 12.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 13.4% are under the age of 18 and 22.9% are 65 or older.
