Wake skating

Wake skating is a version of wakeboarding that uses a similarly-shaped board, most often made from wood, which is layered, similar to a skateboard deck; or foam. Usually these decks have a griptape top (an abrasive material that adheres to the board, even while wet). However, some wakeskates have a foam top.

Wakeskaters wear shoes, instead of traditional wakeboard bindings, to ride. Several companies are making custom shoes for this sport. Riders are not attached in any way to the wakeskate, making the sport a version of skateboarding, behind a boat.

Several tournaments and competitions exist throughout the world for the sport of wakeskating.
