Vishnu Sarma

Vishnu Sarma is the author of an anthropomorphic political treatise called Panchatantra. He lived in Benares at around 200 BC. He was a scholar in Sankrit and the official Guru of the then princes of Kasi. He started writing down Panchatantra to teach poltical science to his young royal disciples. The Panchatantra is the oldest collection of Indian fables surving today.
