Vina is a town located in Franklin County, Alabama. As of the 2000 census, the population of the town is 400.

Geography Vina is located at 34°22'30" North, 88°3'13" West (34.374874, -88.053498)1.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.3 km² (4.0 mi²). 10.3 km² (4.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 400 people, 155 households, and 110 families residing in the town. The population density is 38.7/km² (100.2/mi²). There are 188 housing units at an average density of 18.2/km² (47.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.50% White, 0.50% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.75% from two or more races. 1.75% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 155 households out of which 31.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.9% are married couples living together, 21.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.0% are non-families. 26.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.11.

In the town the population is spread out with 31.8% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 99.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $18,594, and the median income for a family is $20,625. Males have a median income of $23,000 versus $19,444 for females. The per capita income for the town is $10,662. 47.5% of the population and 46.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 69.3% are under the age of 18 and 52.9% are 65 or older.
