Leopold Vietoris

Dr. Leopold Vietoris ( June 4, 1891 - April 9, 2002) was in his time believed to have been oldest living mathematician and oldest living Austrian man. He lived to be 110 years and 309 days old.

He was known for his contributions to topology and other fields of mathematics and for being a keen alpinist. He attended the University of Innsbruck where he earned his Ph.D. Vietoris was also known for his work with space subsets[?] and was deeply interested in mathematical history as well.
