Viburnum is a city located in Iron County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 825.

Geography Viburnum is located at 37°42'53" North, 91°7'40" West (37.714668, -91.127914)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.5 km² (1.7 mi²). 4.5 km² (1.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.58% is water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 825 people, 302 households, and 224 families residing in the city. The population density is 185.2/km² (479.0/mi²). There are 325 housing units at an average density of 73.0/km² (188.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 98.91% White, 0.12% African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.48% from two or more races. 0.36% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 302 households out of which 36.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.5% are non-families. 22.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.03.

In the city the population is spread out with 28.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 89.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $34,107, and the median income for a family is $38,750. Males have a median income of $40,909 versus $18,250 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,085. 13.6% of the population and 11.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 13.4% are under the age of 18 and 21.4% are 65 or older.
