Veinticinco de agosto, 1983

Veinticinco de agosto, 1983 (August the 25th, 1983) is a chamber opera by Juan Maria Solare, composed in (1992/1993). The opera [37'30" in length] is in one Act and fifteen scenes, after the homonymous tale by Jorge Luis Borges. Libretto by Javier Adúriz. Dramatis Personae: Old Borges (Bass), Young Borges (Tenor), Speaker (Baritone/Tenor), Owner of the Hotel (Baritone/Bass). Instrumentalists: Flute, Tenor Saxophon, String Quartet, Piano, one percussionist (Suspended Cymbal, 2 Anvils, Glockenspiel, Vibraphone, 5 Temple blocks, 3 Tomtoms, Tenor Drum), six-part Mixed Choir.
