USS Gato

Two submarines of the United States Navy have borne the name USS Gato, named for a species of small shark found in waters along the west coast of Mexico.

The first USS Gato (SS-212), the lead ship of her class, saw action during World War II.

The second USS Gato (SSN-615), a Thresher-class submarine[?], saw action during the Cold War.
