USS Boone (FFG-28)

USS Boone (FFG-28), twentieth ship of the Oliver Hazard Perry class of guided-missile frigates, was named for Vice Admiral Dr. Joel Thompson Boone (1889-1974). Ordered from Todd Pacific, Seattle, WA on 23 January 1978 as part of the FY78 program, Boone was laid down 27 March 1979, launched 16 January 1980, and commissioned 15 May 1982.
