Urbanna is a town located in Middlesex County, Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 543.

Geography Urbanna is located at 37°38'16" North, 76°34'23" West (37.637796, -76.573149)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 17.65% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 543 people, 266 households, and 160 families residing in the town. The population density is 499.2/km² (1,286.5/mi²). There are 354 housing units at an average density of 325.4/km² (838.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 95.58% White, 3.50% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.92% from two or more races. 0.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 266 households out of which 20.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.6% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.5% are non-families. 35.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.04 and the average family size is 2.61.

In the town the population is spread out with 18.6% under the age of 18, 3.7% from 18 to 24, 21.4% from 25 to 44, 30.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 49 years. For every 100 females there are 70.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 73.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $42,054, and the median income for a family is $49,583. Males have a median income of $33,214 versus $28,375 for females. The per capita income for the town is $32,944. 4.7% of the population and 4.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 6.3% are under the age of 18 and 2.3% are 65 or older.
