Upper Saddle River is a borough located in Bergen County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 7,741.

Geography Upper Saddle River is located at 41°3'49" North, 74°5'59" West (41.063495, -74.099860)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 13.7 km² (5.3 mi²). 13.7 km² (5.3 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 7,741 people, 2,497 households, and 2,242 families residing in the borough. The population density is 565.0/km² (1,462.7/mi²). There are 2,560 housing units at an average density of 186.8/km² (483.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough is 91.24% White, 0.93% African American, 0.03% Native American, 6.28% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 0.99% from two or more races. 2.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,497 households out of which 47.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 83.6% are married couples living together, 4.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 10.2% are non-families. 8.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.09 and the average family size is 3.27.

In the borough the population is spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 29.0% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.0 males.

The median income for a household in the borough is $127,635, and the median income for a family is $132,401. Males have a median income of $100,000 versus $51,587 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $57,239. 0.7% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 2.1% are 65 or older.
