Unterwalden

Unterwalden is a region in Central Switzerland.

It consists of an Upper part, the canton of Obwalden[?], and a lower part, the canton of Nidwalden[?].

Unterwalden was one of the three participants in the 1291 alliance with Uri and Schwyz, considered the origin of the Swiss Confederation.
