The actual "unspinning", which usually unfolds as counter-posts, opinions, etc. The free exchange of ideas, as well as the interesting insights this provides on the commentators, is as entertaining as it is informative.
The group originated as an on-line discussion forum in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 disaster in the Eastern United States, when Winston Churchill's famous lines became vividly apparent: "In a war, the first casualty is always the truth." When facts, opinions, fear, and a quest for a "safer" world were being scrambled by as many media pundits as politicians, unspun emerged as a forum for people to discuss the causes and effects of daily events (and their interpretations). Unspun remains a liberal and welcoming forum where people can express their concerns about what they read, hear, and think.
