Union County is a county located in the U.S. State of Ohio. As of 2000, the population is 40,909. Its county seat is Marysville6.

Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,132 km² (437 mi²). 1,131 km² (437 mi²) of it is land and 1 km² (0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.08% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 40,909 people, 14,346 households, and 10,888 families residing in the county. The population density is 36/km² (94/mi²). There are 15,217 housing units at an average density of 13/km² (35/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.25% White, 2.81% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 0.76% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 14,346 households out of which 38.50% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.40% are married couples living together, 8.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.10% are non-families. 19.90% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.30% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.11.

In the county, the population is spread out with 27.60% under the age of 18, 7.50% from 18 to 24, 34.00% from 25 to 44, 21.20% from 45 to 64, and 9.60% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 91.50 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.80 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $51,743, and the median income for a family is $58,384. Males have a median income of $40,910 versus $27,405 for females. The per capita income for the county is $20,577. 4.60% of the population and 3.60% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 4.30% are under the age of 18 and 7.80% are 65 or older.
