Uname

Uname is a Unix/NT process that returns the name of the operating system. It is extremely useful when building software from source.

In the Windows Cygwin enviroment, uname is included in the "shellsutils" (may be called sh-utils) package avaliable from the package manager (in this case, installer and the package manager are the same thing). Uname itself is not avaliable as a separate package.
