Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 95.2 km² (36.7 mi²). 92.3 km² (35.6 mi²) of it is land and 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.99% water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 8,459 people, 2,882 households, and 2,466 families residing in the township. The population density is 91.6/km² (237.3/mi²). There are 3,020 housing units at an average density of 32.7/km² (84.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.81% White, 0.06% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races. 0.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 2,882 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.5% are married couples living together, 4.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.4% are non-families. 11.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.93 and the average family size is 3.18.

In the township the population is spread out with 28.8% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 29.3% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who are 65 years of age or older.
