Tyler Run-Queens Gate, Pennsylvania

Tyler Run-Queens Gate is a town located in York County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,926.

Geography Tyler Run-Queens Gate is located at 39°56'3" North, 76°41'48" West (39.934049, -76.696590)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 4.0 km² (1.6 mi²). 4.0 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 2,926 people, 1,435 households, and 730 families residing in the town. The population density is 724.2/km² (1,870.6/mi²). There are 1,547 housing units at an average density of 382.9/km² (989.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.92% White, 3.01% African American, 0.10% Native American, 1.71% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.62% from other races, and 0.58% from two or more races. 1.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,435 households out of which 17.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.2% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 49.1% are non-families. 42.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 22.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.95 and the average family size is 2.67.

In the town the population is spread out with 15.4% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 28.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 82.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $38,523, and the median income for a family is $48,974. Males have a median income of $34,286 versus $27,722 for females. The per capita income for the town is $25,589. 7.6% of the population and 5.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 3.1% are under the age of 18 and 11.1% are 65 or older.
