Demographics As of the census of 2000, there are 1,138 people, 398 households, and 284 families residing in the Indian reservation. The population density is 47.4/km² (122.8/mi²). There are 398 housing units at an average density of 16.6/km² (42.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the Indian reservation is 58.61% White, 9.31% African American, 27.33% Native American, 0.53% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 1.32% from other races, and 2.81% from two or more races. 1.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 398 households out of which 43.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.5% are married couples living together, 19.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.4% are non-families. 21.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.86 and the average family size is 3.36.
In the Indian reservation the population is spread out with 34.3% under the age of 18, 13.7% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 14.3% from 45 to 64, and 7.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
