The Tube

Redirected from Tube

The Tube is a colloquial name for the London Underground, London's Underground public transportation system. The underground railway has been described as the tube since 1890 when the first electric railway line running through deep-level tunnels was opened. Specific lines also have their own nicknames; the most widely used is the Waterloo and City Line's "The Drain".

The Tube was an innovative United Kingdom music television programme of the 1980s, produced in Newcastle by Tyne-Tees Television[?] and broadcast on Channel 4 television. Presented by such talented luminaries as Jools Holland[?], Manchester's Terry Christian[?], and the late Paula Yates, The Tube was a showcase for many emerging 80s bands.
